Use case
For lenders and used-car platforms, sell motor cover without a mapping team
How NBFCs, vehicle lenders and used-car platforms can quote motor insurance from RC data they already hold, with the right IDV and no mapping desk.

If you finance vehicles or sell used ones, insurance is already part of your process. A lender wants the vehicle insured before disbursal. A used-car platform has a buyer who needs cover the day the car changes hands. Offering that cover yourself, through your own licence or a partner's, is good revenue and a better experience than sending the customer off to sort it out alone.
You also have something most insurance sellers have to go and fetch: the vehicle's RC details. They're in the loan file or the inspection report.
What you probably don't have is a team that knows how five insurers each spell a Swift VXi.
The part nobody budgets for
Every insurer prices from its own vehicle master, so before you can show a quote you have to turn the RC into each insurer's code. That's easy for a new car in a popular variant and hard for everything else, and lenders and used-car platforms see a lot of everything else. Older vehicles, discontinued variants, models that changed names halfway through their life and two-wheelers spelled four different ways all turn up.
There are three usual answers, and none of them is great.
- Hire people to map vehicles by hand. That works, but now you're running an insurance operations desk inside a lending or marketplace business.
- Ask the customer or the sales team to pick the variant from a list. That's fast, and it's often wrong, because people pick the variant they recognise.
- Only quote the insurers whose mapping you trust. That's simple, and it gives your customer fewer choices and worse prices.
Why the variant matters to a lender
For a lender, the vehicle is the security for the loan. The policy's insured declared value (IDV) is fixed on the manufacturer's listed selling price of the brand and model and then depreciated by age, and in a total loss the claim is settled against that value. Put the wrong variant on the policy and the IDV can be wrong by a meaningful amount, which is exactly the number you were relying on.
For a used-car platform, a wrong variant is a customer service problem that starts on day one. The premium doesn't match what the buyer was told, the policy needs an endorsement, and the sale that was supposed to be finished isn't.
What changes with Dorvy Tech
You send the RC vehicle fields you already hold: maker and model as written, fuel, cc, seats, body type, norms and class. Dorvy Tech returns each insurer's listing and code, with a confidence level and the closest alternatives, in about 7 ms per vehicle for five insurers. Your journey shows quotes, and your team only steps in for the picks that come back with low confidence.
When an insurer doesn't list the vehicle, which can happen with older ones, Dorvy Tech says "no listing" and gives the reason instead of forcing the nearest match. You can drop that insurer from the quote and move on.
You don't need registration numbers, chassis numbers or owner details, and it runs on your own servers on an ordinary CPU with no outbound calls. That keeps your security and compliance review short, which matters when the rest of your business is regulated too.
What it saves
The obvious saving is the mapping desk you don't have to build. The less obvious one is accuracy. On our held-out test of 150 real RC records across five insurer masters, Dorvy Tech picked the exact listing 77.0% of the time, against 66.2% for the best standard matcher, and made less than half the wrong picks (about 13% against 32%). How we measured explains the test, which was deliberately hard.
To estimate it for your business, with made-up numbers: a lender that insures 5,000 vehicles a month and corrects one policy in 50 for a vehicle detail is raising 100 endorsements a month. Each one costs staff time, a customer call and sometimes a premium refund. Fewer wrong picks means fewer of those. You also get the customers who would have dropped out of a slow or broken insurance step.
Getting started
Send about 300 recent vehicles from your loan or sales book, with the codes you use today if you have them. Within 3 working days you get our pick, confidence and alternatives for each insurer. If you don't map today, we'll show you what you'd get, and you can check a sample against the insurers' own quotes.
